Mariegold is a mixed-use project that includes the renovation and re-opening of Mount Everest Hotel and construction of high-end residential units as part of the same development.
Mount Everest Hotel has been an important part of Darjeeling history since its inception in 1914. The hotel was unfortunately gutted in a fire in 1978 and has remained untouched since. The Mariegold project aims to refurbish the entire hotel along with extending the development to encompass luxury serviced apartments, HIG housing blocks, retail units, clubhouse and allied service blocks. This will be a project that’s the first of its kind, in scale and typology, in Darjeeling. All residential units (2BHKs & 3BHKs) are well above 1500-1800 sqft each, with bay windows that provide stunning views towards the valley. Construction is scheduled to start in November 2016 in phases, to be followed by the re-design and conservation work of the hotel at a later stage.
